Four Winds Rally (BMW) Aug 17 - 19 2018

Hardly Epic but just a ride report:
Nice rally in a city park that is used for the county fair.  Dinner on Saturday night (BBQ that is catered) donuts out the door on Sunday morning.  Coffee is always ready at 05:30.  Lots of info available about local attractions and paper maps of interesting local rides.  Only a couple of showers but they were adequate for the size of the crowd and the water was always hot.  Lots of room to tent and four large pavilion buildings were people were setting up camp.
My ride: I slabbed it up on Friday running in and out of heavy rain all the way up. I had my rain gear on and off three times, but I did arrive dry.  Saturday was on and off light rain and I spent most of the day in my Kermit chair catching up and retelling old stories.  I said previously that I had never been to this rally but I was informed that I had attended, but in a different location and decades ago.   Sunday was predicted to be a nice day and I laid out a diagonal route that would put me on the Thruway somewhere East of Harrisburg.  Up early I  was ready to go at 6 AM but waited for the sun to come up, nice ride for about 100 miles then surprise, surprise - rain.   The rain continued on and off all the way to my garage.

This season is working on becoming the worst season for riding that I can remember.  Seems like every time I head out it rains.

Some guys put on a 'Streets of LA' demonstration.

Harry, you have any idea of attendance this year? I usually go but didn’t cause of going to the RA Rally, I’m wondering how or if, it affected it. Usually 200+ there..

Last year Pete Lisko and I ran down and visited Wright’s “Falling Water” on Saturday. Some great twisties about 40 miles north of the rally site, too... fun, fun riding

The rally chair this year was an old friend (the reason I went to the rally) and I spent, a while, Saturday evening sitting with him around the campfire. The attendance was indeed down, 135 the lowest anyone could remember, he attributed it to a general turn down seen at most rallies and a predicted three days of rain. Wasn't a big problem as they order the food Saturday morning.
He also said thanks for the door prize (Rally entrance) that New Sweden sent. Last Chance rally came up at the camp fire and I talked up the wonders of South (Deep South) New Jersey.

A couple at the rally brought their 'companion animal'.
