BMW Nav 6

I've had several Garmin units starting with a GPS60c that I used on my enduro bike then a 660 which was slow as hell on redraws. The 595LM was a big leap forward as far as speed and features but although it had a better screen than the 660 and could be seen much easier in sunlight it was still tough in some lighting conditions.

The Nav 6 is a game changer as far as viewing in all light conditions, the "Circular Polarization Filter" screen which I believe is a BMW exclusive makes the screen clear in every light condition I have experienced so far... no sun visor required.

I agree completely. I had a Nav IV, then a Nav V, now a Nav VI. The V was an improvement over the IV, but the VI is a game changer. It is faster, twice the onboard storage and the screen is a huge improvement. Also the music from cell phone streaming feature is nice.
If you’re wondering how/why I kept upgrading here’s the answer. First, I’m a farkle whore, always have been. Secondly, I never pay list price for BMW stuff. I’ve established a business relationship over the years with Jeremy Leafe, Parts Dept manager at Max BMW in NH. I email him and he quotes me his price. Free shipping too. He has always come in substantially under retail, a few hundred under on each of the Nav units. The trick is the order the new one as soon as they can be ordered and immediately post the old one on ADV RIDER or some other large forum. Early on you can still get a very good price for the old model. If you wait a month or two prices drop quickly on the newly outdated unit. In the end the upgrading has cost me about $100 each time.

I also agree. I just upgraded from a Nav5 to the 6 and the screen is a huge improvement. Before the 5 I had a Garmin Zumo 665 and a 550 and I do not remember the screen brightness being an issue with either one of those units as it was on the Nav5. I am happy with the upgrade as well even if it did dent my wallet considerably. I sold a Fender Stratocastor guitar to fund it. :boohoo

If anyone is considering buying one of these I remember last year at the RA in NY a dealer was selling them at 20% off. Maybe at one of the bigger rallies this year someone will do the same.

Yep sold my 595 on Advrider before I even had the 6... I did price it right for quick sale.

The 595 did music streaming but not as well as the 6. The Garmin connect app even works better with the 6 than the 595. I have premium weather which is a $4.95 one time subscription through Garmin which allows you to see weather radar on the GPS screen. Nice to have when you don't know exactly what the dark clouds ahead have in store.
