Don't exactly know where to post this so I'll put it here>
There's a movie going around about a route from Damascus,Va to the RA rally location in Pennsylvania. Forest roads and back country roads (maybe doable on a street bike ?). It's being shown in different locations and will be in New Jersey on February 2.
.
Escape the city and discover the Mid-Atlantic Backcountry Discovery Route, a scenic dual-sport adventure on dirt, gravel and paved roads through remote parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Starting in Damascus, VA, and ending in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, PA. This 1,080-mile route primarily uses forest roads and rural country lanes through the Appalachian mountains, majestic forests, bucolic farming landscapes, Amish country, and locations that played pivotal roles in early American history.

Wider than a Goat Path, rocks smaller than a grapefruit, water less than a foot deep and sand not deeper than six inches. Doable on street tires.

Don’t worry, be happy... I will put out a Backroads Ride to the RA Rally, like a NS45O route, all Backroads, sightseeing, twistys, practically all day to get there. Trust me on this one!

And a big loop ride for when you’re there. This is tentative right now, but as it stands now: 225 Miles, 5 hours w/o stops.. farm country, 49 near NY, Coudersport, 6 to PA155, Emporium, PA120, Simnemahoning Creek... RESTAURANTS...through Renova ( optional. HYNER RUN) PA144- great road, one. of the best roads in PA, then optional go to Grand Canyon of PA.

I go to a veterans weekend (early November) and we stay in Hyner Run SP (Lodge), we've ridden most of the roads on your loop a bunch of times. RT144 is a gem, and they just repaved it this summer.

You might be able to add the Zippo/case Museum in Bradford, it's only ten miles Northwest of Smethport and more interesting than the disappointing, not so 'Grand Canyon'.

Another cool thing in the Smethport area (ten miles North) is the WWII museum in Eldred, I was really surprised with this one, not expecting to find a high quality museum in outback Pennsylvania.

Also down by the southern part of your loop a mile or two East of Hyner is Hyner view SP. In the Summer the hang glider guys jump off a ramp and glide into the valley below.

I always assume everyone has been to the Finger Lakes rally and has traveled over the mountain to visit the Curtis Aviation Museum in Hammondsport. If someone hasn't been there I strongly recommend it. It's only forty miles North of the rally site but schedule a few hours if you go.

We're setting up day rides to give out at the rally, I think you'll see a few other bikes riding the roads on your loop. Actually a rider is hard pressed to find a bad road in the area. And watch out for the Elk.

144 is a good time. My sister lives in Warren so Bradford I know but never did the Zippo thing. Got to do the road course at Watkins.

And Phil, yes, would very much like the dirty martini route. Please throw in the olives. Looks like tequila Jim can only stand the girly drink: the cosmopolitan

Sheesh, 2nd time replying! Arrrgghhh

Yeah, I have Grand Canton as an option at the very end... meh.

Hyner Run is in my route in Renova, had a butt clencher going there one time. In heavy rain, going up the winding mountain road I got my front wheel off the shoulder into the dirt.. close one. Been there a bunch as we used to do a dual sport ride out of Williamsport and that was on the route, often. (Dirty Dabbers MC).

I’m thinking of putting together another ride with the Elk Mountain area (Benezette) an o to Kinzua Bridge and Dam etc. loads of Elk and Bears, Oh My!

You’re so right Harry, not a bad road out there... ceppt the feistiest, tightest road I’ve ever been on is out there but the road is going up a mountain and is a total mess.. pothole city.

Bring it on Phil! You haven't disappointed me yet. Well except for the bicycle race detours in the Poconos. And then there was that 100 miles of PA turnpike another year. But other than those you do an awesome job!!

I keeed I keeeed!!
