Just a thought about National Rally weather. The last few years with the rally in July we've been having some really HOT weather (it's JULY), otherwise fairly nice just hot. People complain, as people do, so they move it to June a month at the end of the rainy season in most of the Country. This year we're going South and may or not have rain. BUT next year we'll be crossing 3/4 of the Country.
If we were going to Great Falls Montana this year we would have to cross the Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri (twice) rivers all at their highest flood stage in decades. I've only ridden through a flood area once (Missouri river in Nebraska) and it's a not good feeling, seeing as your unfamiliar with the area you don't know if your riding into the flood or away from it and you don't dare use the secondary roads. Next year will be interesting - I'm looking forward to it.

And I seek refuge in aluminum and steel
It takes me out there for just a little while
And the years fall away with every mile

That could be the reason everything is so green down there :yo

That was one hell of a week. Had an amazing ride down with Ron and Jim all through the Appalachians staying at various spots. Front Royal, willville, Blue Ridge Campground, Deals Gap...

Holy shit, the Tail of the Dragon. That was an item to check off the bucket list. I think we owned it. Great roads, scenery, camping and companionship.

As usual MOA puts on a great show and is a well-run event. That was pretty cool 900 miles from home.

Then I tweaked my left elbow... Riding was over... I have to give a huge shout out to Wayne and Shirley Brown for saving my arse and getting me home. Two absolutely Stellar people that I enjoyed getting to know better on the ride home. I don't know if I can make it up to you guys but I will make sure to pay it forward. We sure did eat a lot of biscuits and gravy on the way home! Sherando was a nice stop on the way back. Thank you both.

Thanks to everyone who helped to get the bike on a truck! Ron, Jim, Kevin, Steve, and many more. Good to travel with a support group like this. New Sweden rocks.
