Square Route Rally, 6/1 - 3/2018

Postby pjliskojr » Tue Apr 24, 2018 7:46 pm

Who is planning to attend the 44th annual Square route Rally this year. I have not been able to make this one in the past but I hear it is pretty good. According to the web site if you preregister for $50 you get a bed in the bunkhouse. Here's the link to the site http://www.bmwbmw.org/srr . I'm going to try real hard to make it this year. :clap

This is a good event in a good location. Get the bunkhouse...

Catoctin mountains, camp David, cash bar, etc.

Looks like things have changed at Square Root. Pre-register to get in the bunk house and they charge $5 per night.

Just pre-registered, but I'm sleeping in my tent. :tent8

I did, however, reserve a dorm room for the RA National.

I've been to this rally well over 20 times, half in a tent, half in the bunkhouse and usually in the rain (It's Springtime). the drainage here is, at best, sub par and the ground is like dehydrated chassis lube, when it's wet watch out. I've seen more bikes on their sides and people on their asses at this rally than all the others combined.

Pre-registration is problematic because I'll only be interested in this rally if the weather is good. This rally is lately in my 'too close' category and the draw is riding my /5 out there (no room for a tent). There is nothing out there that I haven't seen a few times, I've traveled just about every imaginable way out there and I'll be crossing that area at least four times this season. However riding a fifty year old bike out there makes it interesting.

Oops! I just not received an Email asking me to host a baby shower that weekend. Hate to miss Square Route but the mom-to-be is a very special friend. Oh, well, at least it's not the New Sweden 450 weekend!
