Rally plans for 2019

Postby Ron_Ces » Wed Jan 02, 2019 10:10 am

Let's hope that 2019 is a bit dryer than 2018. Wherever I rode, north, south or west, it rained. I am starting to plan out my Rally schedule for 2019. Who else has started planning?
I am curious if Cass will come back this year. :scratch
So far, I have Square Route, NS450, Georgia Mountain and perhaps ride up to Nova Scotia. I want to try that ferry from Portland to NS.

Retired guy, with no interest in winter activities other than making it to spring, what else but to plan.
.
Square Root on my /5 if the weather is good.
.
Gettysburg Work Weekend - (payback for the enjoyment I've received from our National parks and Monuments.)
.
After almost freezing to death in Cass two years in a row (25° at night) I moved further South to the ROK rally in DelRio, TN. it's only 250 miles further South.
.
Naturally the MOA national in June and the week after it the Guzzi rally in Willville. Good reason to stay in the area for a week or so.
.
Finger Lakes the end of the Summer. I understand they didn't lose money last year - that's a good thing. Maybe Vermont after finger lakes.
.
Have to find a reason to get back in New England, maybe Heath Rally

...nowadays I have two good wheels
And I seek refuge in aluminum and steel
It takes me out there for just a little while
And the years fall away with every mile

I tentatively plan to attend the RA rally. Thought I'd leave on Thursday, make my way to Gettysburg, PA, spend the night at the Gettysburg Campground(where we always stayed in Scouts), then Friday AM till about noon-1pm I'd check out the historical sites, then make my way down to the rally. It's only 2 hours away from Gettysburg via highway, so if I stretch it out to 3-4 or so I'll still have some light to setup my tent.

So far I have planned:

26-28 April - TDC Maintenance weekend south of Rochester.
18-19 May - NS 450.
13-16 June - MOA Rally in TN.
11-21 July - Brain Flush to Bourbon Trail in KY.
15-18 August - Chromeheads RP in VT.
5-8 September - Green Mountain Rally in VT. (same weekend as RA Rally in VA :scratch )
27-29 September (?) - Last Chance Rally.
October - Barber Vintage Festival ?

I need to retire soon! :rider

The Barber Vintage Festival is a problem as it's the same weekend as the Meadowlands Mile. I've been to the Barber event a few times and every year it gets better, but it's a bucket list thing to see a mile flat track.
I imagine Barber will win out.

I heard the Meadowlands Mile was a good season ending event, in spite of the weather. Also on my bucket list.

Yeah... 450, MOA, maybe VT in summer? Last chance. Finger Lakes is a maybe. RA in VA sounds like a good idea.

Need to fix my noisy speedo cable. Also valve time.
