Ice breaker dual sport
2/10/19

New dual sport ride this year. The rides in Feb due to the permit process in NJ. You think getting a Vet plate is hard. Try riding in the forest. Can't say how the weather will be but you can sign up day of, no penalties or extra fees. .. .and you still get the shirt which I have not seen or worked on :wings . The BBB gun clubs is near the 70/72 circle.

I've rode some of it when when it was GPS'd for the permit.. It's dirt roads roads and big bike friendly for the most part. If anyone end up going let me know and I'll keep an eye out. Its free for club members as we ride sweep so unless it's really bad I'll show on the KLR if I finish up with the wiring.

Thanks for the info on this - I have it on my calendar and will watch the weather. If it is not too cold, it should be fun riding in the Brendan Byrne forest.

Maybe I can talk Kevin, Brain, and Dan into riding for the day in the winter!!

Happy New Year!

Jeff

Yeah the weather will make it or break it but I'm happy the club is putting the money up for the permit. Now that it's on the NJ calendar we can fight for a better date. If it looks like you can make it let me know and I'll meet up. I'm sure we will have a bonfire afterwards.

I texted Kevin today, and he is up for it if the weather cooperates. I also posted it on ADV Rider and I know a few guys from there will show up.

I will keep in touch.

Now I have to decide which bike......

I just picked up this R9T and have been getting it ready for off-road. It needs a lot of protection parts and some suspension tweaking, but it should be fun on the gravel and dirt roads of the Pine Barrens

Great to see SJER doing a dualsport again.
Rode the event several times in the past.
Got into some trouble with family since it
was always held on Fathers Day.

"Brain" should be able to make it if I can get someone to help the wife. Also need a battery & tuneup for the bike.

Thanks Bob! I am a bit nervous about getting it dirty or scratched, but the bonus is that I can flatfoot both feet. I just got two big boxes of parts including the much-needed protection.

Hey Brian - I think you XXxXXXXXXXXXXXxxxxxXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I hope you and Dan can make this ride. It would be fun to ride around Brendan Byrne in February with the GS crew! Maybe Johnny will blow the dust off of his Zombie Apoloypse GS bike and join us!!

60 miles of dirt roads should not be too bad.

My understanding was SJER held it as duel sport for a wile then NJ changed to the "menu system" for permitted use of state land and removed 80-90% of the land clubs could apply to use for rides and races. (don't get me started about this!) At that time it changed to the "Fathers day Protest Ride". I've ridden it a few times, with Prez Phil once. That however was a little more technical them what were offering currently. the club wanted to make it a little more big big friendly plus NO way the state would allow us to ride any of that great trail.

Keep in mind this being put on by an enduro club so it will use arrows and a route sheet. No Phil to upload to the GPS but the start and finish are at the same point so you can easily use your GPS if you get off track.
