NJ Lighthouse Challenge

Lighthouse Challenge
When I first brought this up back in January there seemed to be considerable interest. The organizers of this event finally unveiled the 2019 web page https://lhchallengenj.org/Home.php . You can visit the site to get more details on how it works.

Sharon and I did the challenge in 2004; in my younger days. We started at the north most lighthouse and worked our way south to the last one on the Delaware. We took 2 days to complete the run. We broke the trip off just outside of Absecon lighthouse in Atlantic City. That was a logical break point for the two days. We have an interesting story about the hotel we stayed in for anyone who is interested. If you plan to do all of the lighthouses, you should plan for 2 days and a hotel somewhere along the way.

Planning for this adventure will depend on the number of people interested, the number of lighthouses we want to visit (I suggest all of them) and whether we want to all stay in the same hotel. I need feedback to solidify a plan.

What do you think? Get back to me with your input and I will do my best the make the arrangements. Sharon and I had a blast riding this and I think this would be a great club event. :clap

I don't see the maps on the page, not sure what you are looking at. I'm planning to work with Phil to create a map we can load to our GPS for the ride. It's not complicated. Pretty much follow the coastline. Whan Sharon and I did it I used PAPER MAPS!!!!!!! You remember them, don't you. :D

I might be in for this. I found the link to their Facebook page if anyone has interest on that. There may be more frequent updates.

Always carried paper maps and a compass riding snowmobiles... no cell reception out in the boonies and sometimes the tree cover blocked satellites...

All I need to know is farthest North that will be part of the challenge... Probably go up and stay in the area the day/night before.
