A couple of members at the meeting last night asked me when this event will be. The 2019 Light House Challenge will take place October 19th and 20th. There seems to be some interest in this so I am looking forward to a great event. Please visit the web site fore more information https://lhchallengenj.org/Home.php.

Did this a few years ago. They were giving out badges at each lighthouse (13 of them). We just put the address into the GPS and went from lighthouse to lighthouse. Got a motel in Cape May and finished off the rest on Sunday. Good time.

And I seek refuge in aluminum and steel
It takes me out there for just a little while

Doing some prelim planning for the event. I see Wayne said he would be going up the night before. Sharon and I plan to do the same; staying at the Courtyard Lincroft Red Bank. It's about 30 minutes from the first lighthouse (Sandy Hook). The way I am planning the ride is to start north and head south along the coast. I plan is to stop outside AC (Absecon Lighthouse) on Saturday night. Hotels can be expensive around AC so I am wondering if everyone would be interested in staying in the same hotel or do you all want to decide where to stay individually? I have contacted the Travelodge by Windham Absecon NJ. They can accommodate us at $85 per night and if we have 10+ the rate would be $75. The pics of the place don't look too bad but it only has a 3 star rating.

Please let me know what you would like to do. This will be here before we know it. :)

We are not going to make it on the 19th at least... My October work schedule is booked solid I only have Sundays free. We have climbed all South of Absecon and Lynn has climbed Absecon and Tuckerton so actually we only need to visit the lights from Barnegat North. Maybe we will ride out to Barnegat on Sunday (20th) and head North from there...

I'm in Pete. I like the idea of the Travelodge. I also have a friend who may be interested.

I checked the Courtyard in Lincroft/Red Bank and the rate I see for Friday night is $212. Did you get a better rate?

My friend is joining. Not sure if his wife will be with him. Include a room Saturday night for him. Thanks for putting this together Pete!

Yikes! How quickly things change. My friend won't be joining us. His wife reminded him they have a wedding to attend.

I am working on the itinerary for the two days; will post it later today. I have made a reservation for Saturday 10/19 at the Travel Lodge by Windham, Absecon. They said there is room but they wouldn't hold a block for such a small group. I suggest you make your reservation or find another place if you prefer. There number is 609-910-0380.

The weather looks fabulous at this point. :wings
