06/11-13/2026 BMW MOA Rally

I’m going up that Wednesday. I’ll see you all up there.

Lynn and I will be heading up on Wednesday the 10th (a day early) since we are not volunteering we are denied access until Thursday so we will be camping at a National Forest Campground about 40 miles South on Wednesday night.

Since we have lifetime senior passes it is costing us $15.50 to camp overnight...

We will be at site Site 10 if anyone wants to stop by on their way. You will need to make your own reservation for a site...https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/256347

Woulda coulda shoulda ……

Yes - space computation for each club “should” be 10 x 10 for each camper plus the rental tent. Most likely, based on previous experience, is that space will be tight.

Don’t worry, it will all work out. It always does 😎

Fire code schmire code. I'm going to have my own campfire in my 10x10 space.

If the club camping area is too tight, the overall grounds look expansive enough to find a spot. Might even make some new friends.

How did I know that you would be right on top of this Dan???

Codes are put in place for a reason and must be followed!

Well, since you went there with fire codes, I did a little digging. VT state code regarding primitive camping :

(e) Tents or shelters within a group site must be at least thirty (30) feet apart.

I don't advise googling it, it's quite a can of worms 😂

Apparently there have been issues with the expo center before and they now have to submit plans to police and fire prior to any event holding over 1000 people and have plans/funding for extra police and EMS(rightfully so). Camping there is referenced in the document mentioned but it points to some 1988 planning documents that I can't seem to find(nor do I care to look anymore) 🤣

They should allow 100SF (10X10) for each club member that is camping PLUS a 10X20 area (100Sf) for the group tent we ordered.

The 10X10 for individual club members should be arranged so each club member has direct access to exit his/her area.

There has to be something in the local fire code that addresses something like this...

How many 10x10 spaces are they allowing for each club since they're for individual tents or are they still drawing boundries?

This sounds like they are infact talking about the club area, considering they mention the tables/chairs- not the camping tents they rent for people to stay in.

"Using the formula of 10ft.x10ft. needed per tent and given the number of rental tents/tables/chairs reserved, we will likely run out of room in the club camping area."

10ftx10ft is a tiny tent for the club area- thats your standard ez-up tent. In rallys past we had like a 10x20(or maybe larger) tent which even at times could get tight(I'm thinking about the Hamburg rally in 2016, I think at one point we had 20+ people sitting around the table one night)

???? it sounds like they didn't have pre-set areas for clubs. It seems like they're drawing boundries after they figure out how many clubs they need to squeeze into a set area with their 10x10 rental tents.

Reminds me of the Wellsboro RA rally where we had to set our tent up in the parking area and hope we didn't get run over because there wasn't enough room in the club area. 😆

The 10 X 10 space they are talking about is for an individual camp site including a personal tent and parking for a bike.

Good day all.

I received the following email from the Chartered Club Camping Chair today.

Hello Charter Club Campers,

Over 30 clubs have signed up for Club Camping this year at Essex Junction, VT for the MOA National Rally! That in itself is impressive, but setting up tents for nearly 500(!) people is going to require some unanticipated accommodation.

Using the formula of 10ft.x10ft. needed per tent and given the number of rental tents/tables/chairs reserved, we will likely run out of room in the club camping area. That's a good problem to have and there is plenty of tent space!

The rental equipment is meant to provide communal space for your members and will be placed in the designated area for your club. Any space leftover can be for your club's personal tents. Not to worry as there is plenty of tent space all around the perimeter of the Club Camping area, and your club members camping there have just a short walk to join you in your communal space. If your club has not rented a tent/table/chairs, then your whole space may be used for personal tents.

Please share this information with your attending club members.

Thank you for your understanding.

See you at the Rally

……………………..

The Club has arranged rental of a tent, table and chairs in the club camping area.

Look for the signs and find the host. All sites should be well marked.

Kathy and I will be in the RV in the Rally Central area.

See you there!

Thanks Bob..

We will be in the RV section this year as well... Has the MOA assigned the RV sites yet? The only map available notes that actual sites have not been assigned. Did we miss something?

I believe when the Page/Site was set up Lynn set all members up to be subscribed to all of the forums which they could opt out of if they were not interested in certain forums.

I also believe that the forums are the only place on the site that has alerts available.

The rest of the site such as events requires the user to check in on occasion to see what is happening with the club. This includes but is not limited to club (Sponsored) events such as Meetings, Breakfast/Lunch meetups, Special Events, etc.

Events only requires a check in once a month or so to see what is going on weeks or months out and is usually major and regularly scheduled events like meetings, Breakfasts, and events such as club picnics, etc.

The forum is where weekly (Pop Up) events are posted such as group rides, Sunday Funday, etc. That are not planned well in advance due to weather, etc.

This allows anyone who wants to coordinate/lead a ride to post a day or week ahead and lead a meetup and ride.

I use this all the time to post my rides spur of the moment because of other commitments or weather watching.

I don't like missing information and I didn't realize I was. I setup Email alerts in my account setting to be notified any time someone posts anything in the forums. That was a tiny challenge to get that to work.

I also set up Email alerts via Watchlist (third party) to notify me any time the Events page of the website is updated because I thought all Events were addressed in Forums and thought I had all of the alerts. "You thought WRONG, Bitch!"

It took some effort on my part to set myself up so I don't miss information. I would venture to guess that the average club member may find this to be a bit of a lift. It's not necessary, but for me, I'm not always able to check in with the site to see if anything has changed, it's just much easier to be alerted via Email when a change has occurred anywhere on the site, not just forums.

I wish I could attend all of the meetings, but it's a bit far.

If people in the know directed those who ask questions to the web site instead of circumventing the site a lot more people would be using the site.

Most of the members who attend meetings are already using the site.

Thanks Ron, we do have multiple references to the website in every newsletter. Lynn also adds little tips in there as well on how to navigate / use features on the website. Just have to keep pushing its usage to the members. Thx !

Wayne, I would mention the forum at the next club meeting. Also, have the newsletter editor list it in every edition.

Aging hacker-Warranty voider...

This is how it worked last year and it worked out well. Just remember we had until the end of April last year to get in for the rental. It got voted in at the April meeting and the day after the meeting Bob Smith did the rental. We are looking for 15 MEMBERS to commit as last year. The fee appears to be about $72 less than last year which is good. An email blast is going out on Thursday March 12th stating that we need all RSVPS in by March 15th. The meeting is Tuesday March 17th. Motion will be presented and voted on by the club members in attendance.

Lynn

Anyone who is committed to going needs to RSVP on the events page!

Why did we even invest the time and money on club express if members are not going to use it???
