Events and Rallies

For anyone attending the Finger Lakes Rally

I've been to the Corning museum many years ago- when I was a kid. We were on our way home from Niagra Falls. Was over Columbus Day weekend which turns out to be Canadian Thanksgiving.

We went through "Danville" NY(my parents got a picture of me next to the sign) before stopping in Corning. It was definitely a cool place to visit.

The Glenn Curtiss Museum is on my list of places to visit.

Harry, I really wish I could go, it sounds like a blast. Don't worry, you'll be back riding soon enough. We're all just glad you're still here to bitch about not riding, lol!

Glen Curtis museum. Very interesting place and not to be missed, if your in the area. While airplane stuff is the main attraction there are also many other interesting things on display. Cars (Buicks if I remember) and a collection of dolls (porcelain and bisque) hidden in a corner. Been there dozens of times and even got to go through the old museum (and original workshop) downtown once.

Another location, I found VERY interesting was the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning which is only 25 miles from Watkins Glen. A first class museum by any standards, some of the items on display are unbelievable.

Still not riding, this is the longest I've been without a motorcycle ride since I was 18.

Yes, the Glen Curtiss Museum is certainly worth a visit! Last year when I was up in that area, I was told to visit the Mud Creek Bison Ranch. Didn't get a chance to visit that trip, but I'll be back to check it out.

Unfortunately this is an event I will not make this year but I found something pretty cool thanks to my boss at work that I wanted to post here for anyone going in case they were interested. In the area of the rally, roughly about an hour west at the base of Keuka Lake is the Glenn H Curtiss Aviation museum which not only has airplane related stuff, but cars and motorcycle stuff as well. I checked out their website and it seems like a pretty cool place to visit.
