Can't attend meetings but have questions

I'm curious about why there would be a need to redact financial information from the club minutes. I could be wrong, but it appears the minutes section of the the web site is open to members only. Shouldn't all members (not just those who can attend meetings) be privy to this information?

According to the Club By Laws written many years ago...

And I quote as written...

"6) the Treasurer shall cause full and accurate minutes of all questions, matters, resolutions and other proceedings of every Executive Committee Meeting and General Meeting to be entered in a book to be open for inspection at all reasonable times by any financial member who previously applies to the Treasurer for that inspection."

The club bylaws make no provision for the minutes to be "distributed" only "available for inspection at request of a member".

The decision was made to post the minutes with the financials redacted as a courtesy to members who cannot make it to meetings.

Any member can access the minutes in written form on the club web site but the financials will be redacted as the minutes could then be printed and distributed. It is not anyone's business outside of the club or the bank/government what the clubs finances are.

This courtesy is going to go away by the end of the year because only a few people have actually opened the documents... Hardly worth the time that Lynn spends on getting the minutes processed and uploading them.

Lynn has stepped up into many positions since becoming treasurer including taking over Ron's position as webmaster, chief negotiator of pricing for our event venues and catering, etc.

Anyone who wants to change this can step up to the plate and head up a committee to rewrite the entirety of the bylaws as there are many mistakes and things such as meeting day, etc are incorrect. Once the bylaws are rewritten we will also need club members to vote the new rewritten in.

Perhaps we need a "Recording Secretary" to be added as a non executive club officer to accomplish this? It seems that many want to make suggestions but few want to do the work.

I just dug through everything I can access via the app on my phone and I don't even see where the minutes are posted, so maybe that's why so few people have opened them.

They don't show under documents for me.

Is it only available on the computer?

Dan, try actually clicking on it. Under members only mine also showed 0 but when you open the field it shows items under club documents and then under that is the field for meeting minutes.

Didn't think to click on it since it showed 0.

I see it all now. Thank you!
